Irigy Hónaljmirigy Online

I gave this show a 6 out of 10 because the newer episodes (the ones made after 2007) weren't as good as the older ones. They still had some funny eps like in the good old days, but it became obvious that these guys are doing it for the money now. But I still increased the rating by a star since my opinion has changed a bit: even the newer seasons have gems too.

By the way, the years are wrong: the IHM show ran from 2000 to 2010, not 2004-2008. And for anyone who does not know who IHM are, they are a Hungarian comedy/parody music group who are known around the country for their parodies of well-known songs from both Hungary and abroad, and also celebrities and TV shows, again from both Hungary and abroad. They parody commercials as well. They formed in 1990. IHM is short for "Irigy Hónaljmirigy." It can loosely be translated as "Envious Armpit Gland" - and I have read this translation somewhere else too but I think in English it just sounds stupid.

IHM also released several albums during their long career. The last one they released was in 2014. The members of IHM also stated in an interview that they aren't making albums any more since it's not worth it in the era of downloading. Yet there are many bands around the world that are still making albums, but this is just their decision.

The IHM Show's main competitor was the Gálvölgyi Show which ran on TV2's "archrival", RTL Klub. Both shows are similar: they both make fun of celebrities and both went downhill in their later run. (That especially goes to the GV show, which was just an unwatchable mess in the RTL era)... They also have some differences: In the Gálvölgyi show, they don't parody songs, they just parodied commercials, celebrities and TV shows. While the IHM Show's episodes revolve around a single theme (e.g. soap operas, fairy tales or New Years Eve specials), in the Gálvölgyi Show, there were sketches instead of just one theme. The format of GV show goes like this: intro, sketch, sketch, parodies of commercials, sketch, sketch, parody of tv show, parodies of commercials, parody of tv show, short sketch (it's not always there), end.

Sorry for being a bit offtopic with the IHM-GV comparison but I decided to illustrate the differences between the two shows.

In general, I like the IHM Show and they are my favorite band since my childhood. However, the new eps aren't as good as the old ones, but they still have their moments.
