The third Dudu-Flick begins in the Alpes of Swizerland where Dudu practices ski and flies through the sky (cool spacial effects for this time), goes on in Liverpool, where Jimmy Bondie, the owner of the superbug Dudu, is part of a car stunt show! There the show organizer Ivan Leskovic escapes to Switzerland with all the money of the show business by a hovercraft. Jimmy and Aldo Regozzani, the star of the show, follow Leskovic with Dudu passing London, crossing the English Channel but arriving in Lisbon. (here the director Zehetgruber, who also plays the roll of Bondie, employs older scenes of "Ein Käfer gibt Vollgas"!) From there a Truck drags them off to Zürich (Swizerland) using one of Dudu's gadgets (funny scene!) Later on Jimmy and Aldo begin to work in an oldtimer-garage in Bern. Then the plot becomes more complex. Some bank-robbers hide the money in the bug and so the bad guys want to get it back! At the same time Leskovic wants to sell an old Rolls Royce from the garage where Jimmy and Aldo are working, to a man called Hugo Stützli. Then Bondie constructs a fake Dudu to sell it to the one who offers more money, because Leskovic wants have it and the bank-robbers, too! It all ends in a kidnapping of Joe, the woman who own the garage, to finish with Jimmy and Aldo...

The best superbug movie ever seen!!! The story is very complex but well understandable! The jokes are awesome, especially the mixture of German and Swiss-German makes the film interesting, too! The special effects are on a very high standard for this time! Dudu looks very cool with his tuning accessories! Most actors were very popular in Germany of the 70ies like Walter Giller, Salvatore Borgese and Evelyn Kraft (poular in Hongkong, too). The fist fight-scenes choreographed by Borgese who also worked out stunts with and for Terence Hill, are well done.

On the whole the flick keeps being an uncertain mixture of comedy and action, but entertaining and pleasant to see!

The third of five movies director Rudolf Zehetgruber made about a yellow Volkswagen beetle with many gadgets. He played the driver Jimmy Bondi himself under the stage name Robert Mark. It is a common misunderstanding that the series is a kind of promotional tool of the Volkswagen company, but in an interview on the DVD of this movie, Zehetgruber confirms that they had no support at all from the car producers in Wolfsburg to make these movies.

Dudu's powers have grown again since the second movie. He can now fly, crawl up between two walls and Bondi has a more sophisticated remote control. Bondi's new partner in this movie is Aldo Regozzani as a stunt driver. The story revolves around a chase for the gangster Leskovich, featuring two ladies in danger and several bad men who volunteer to get kicked by Dudu several times. "Dudu will make it" is repeatedly uttered by Bondi as a running joke. And he does! I voted 4-7-6-5-3 for the five movies.

"Ein Käfer auf Extratour" or "Superbug, the Wild One" is a West German German-language film from 1973 and it is the third movie from the German Käfer series by Austrian writer and director Rudolf Zehetgruber. The Viennese-born filmmaker really rushed these films back in the early 1970s as the first one is already from two years ago, which means he made one per year at that rate. Joachim Fuchsberger did not return for this one, but Zehetgruber acts himself in this one again as usual. The fact that his character is named Jimmy Bondi is definitely coincidence given the fame of the James Bond films back then. But it's also a sad state of affairs as Zehetgruber obviously tried to cash in with the success of the series. And when his film is original here, it is not creative at all I must say. This one is slightly longer than the first two, but also runs for approximately 90 minutes like the rest of the films. Salvatore Borghese plays his co-lead here and he is probably fairly known in Italy, but German audiences will have no clue who he is. But they may know Walter Giller at least. I guess this film series started weakly and stayed that way as here we do not have a convincing watch once again. This franchise should have ended after the first film already, but instead it kept running and running at a very forgettable level. Oh well, you have to blame the audience if they pay enough money to see the film that they made no less than five films in the 1970s. I give it a thumbs-down. This was forgettable.

Certainly, without a doubt, the best of the Dudu films. Many stunts, good rapport of Jimmy Bondy and Aldo Reggazoni, some funny moments with Dudu and the 1960 Cadillac, and a fairly well thought out plot. However, there are some moments of the thought process being momentarily lost when stuff happens for no apparent reason (after Bondy knocks out the bank robber trying to steal Dudu,he is not shown being pulled out of the car before it drives back to the Oldtimer Garage). The music used during stunts is excellent stuff. The opening song "Dudu" is really corny, but its supposedly being sung by Jimmy Bondy himself.Overall a pretty fun movie, some laughs, and without a doubt the best of the Superbug offerings.
