Crazy Jones (2002) Online

Crazy jones is the story of Finnigan Jones, a depressed, semi-suicidal leaf-blower with Tourette's Syndrome (T.S.). He has no life (lives at home with his mother) and no reason to live. During the course of the story we also learn that his father died at age 40; and now, as Jones approaches his 40th birthday, he suffers from "survivor's guilt." His mother wants a normal life for herself and Finnigan. She's willing to put him through just about anything to "cure" him of T.S., with pills, counseling, electro-shock therapy, etc. Mom's also concerned about Finn's future - who will care for him? So, in addition to curing him she's also trying to get him married off to a "good, strong, responsible" woman. What Jones needs, however, is not to be cured - but to be accepted for what and who he is. Then he meets Syd, a 12 year-old girl with bright clothes and green hair. Syd does accept him and befriends him and shows him how to live. Because of her Finn is finally able to accept himself. With ...

My only guess why there aren't any other reviews for this movie, is the extreme controversial nature of this film. However we shouldn't be afraid of what we don't understand, and that is what this movie brilliantly portrays.

You have a man who is nearing the age of 40, has turrets syndrome, and has the heart and innocence of a child. Yes, he is an adult and acts like one. But his intentions aren't like most adults his age. Whether its because of his disorder, or social isolation, he sees the world much like a child would. Sees things the way they should be seen; simply.

Then you have a child, the age of twelve, and undergoing cancer. As many know, going through a terminal disease and knowing you are going to die in a short matter of time can truly change a person. This girl had the soul of a 47 year old, and though she was young and innocent, she understood the complexities of life in a way that you could only see at deaths door.

Both characters find each other, and develop a powerful bond. Which isn't perverse, but instead based entirely on companionship.

Now I am not advocating people dating at age differences like that, I am merely entertaining the thought and idea that this movie suggests.

That, could it be possible for two people of such adverse ages to love each other? With the rare intention of true companionship, regardless of age?

Yes, the situation would have to be severely complex (as is in this movie) for it to be justifiable, but even so. Could it truly be so wrong?

I give this movie a 9 out of 10, for giving me such an unbelievable perspective that nobody else would dare to even suggest, and executing it so brilliantly.

I was up at around 3am in the morning and with nothing better to do (or watch for that matter) I decided to scope out some flicks on HBO and came across Crazy Jones. The info was interesting and prompted me to watch it (luckily I caught it right as it was starting!).

I was interested and intrigued in the subject of the film and felt connected and attached to them, I felt sympathy for Jones (Finnegan) and his struggle with his over- bearing mother and battle with Tourette's. I felt that the relationship between Syd and Jones was very sweet and touching and that both had a very natural and quirky chemistry and connection.

I was upset at the fact that Syd passed leaving Jones alone again, it was like he was given a taste of companionship, understanding, and unconditional, unaltered love but then have that ripped away. However, I felt that it did make sense as Syd, though despite being as young as she was, gave him the confidence and love he needed to thrive. For example in the hospital scene when Jones tells her he's going to marry her after she (becomes of age and) gets better and that he'll even wait for her she responds with; "Don't spend your whole life waiting." I felt that, while sad, it was good to have her say since the love of his life told him to move on and live.

I love this movie with all my heart especially the end of it when you find Jones survived his suicide attempt and the movie closes with him dancing in the graveyard as Syd used to do. I just wished that I could find a digital version so I could watch it whenever I wanted... I highly recommend this movie to anyone that loves a nice, pure love story and an unlikely friendship.
