The film's title and dialogue is a reference to the song Love Song by Lesley Duncan which features the lyrics: "Love is the opening door. Love is what we came here for. No one could offer you more. Do you know what I mean. Have your eyes really seen".
The final shot was difficult for Philip Brocklehurst to shoot and took several attempts to get right because the light from the sun was blinding him while he was filming the sky.
Vladislav Nogin based the very first chords of his music for the film on the Lani Hall version of the song Love Song, which is Philip Brocklehurst's favorite version of the song.
Have Your Eyes Really Seen (2018) was inspired by a scene in Ulli Lommel's film Haytabo (1971) where the camera focuses on the evening sky and the setting sun while the Elton John version of Love Song plays over the scene.
