It also comes with a live performance of "Geek USA" and "An Ode to No One" which is taken from their final performance at the Metro. There is also a hidden video for the never-before-released song "Untitled". All of the videos come with commentary from the band and some have out-takes and behind the scenes footage.

The video for "Tonight, Tonight" is a tribute to Die Reise zum Mond (1902). Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris filmed the video the same way Georges Méliès did his film. They used a 70-year-old, hand-cranked camera shooting only one angle on a single set

I became a fan of this band in about 2002 at a age where nobody my age like this kind of music. I initial bought the greatest hits CD and then all the rest of their releases. This was one of the best buys though because I had never really seen many of the videos but I had heard of how the video for 'Tonight, Tonight' won the best video award at the 1996 MTV video awards so I thought this would be worth a look.

When you watch this DVD you will be amazed by how good all of the videos are. They are all interesting to watch and listen to. As you watch though you can actually see a evolution of the band itself, which being a fan is a great thing to see. My favorite video is probably 'the everlasting gaze' because it is such a great performance video. There are tons of great videos in this and they are all worth a watch even if you are not a fan.

It has great bonus feature such as unreleased videos, live videos and commentary by the band members. The commentary is also very another interesting feature.

The Smashing Pumpkins are the best band in the whole wide world. There is nothing to compare to their song writing, mellow distortion and acoustic sounds. After I bought Rotten Apples, I thought they weren't going to make anything else Smashing Pumpkins related. Boy was I ever happy to be wrong. My friend bought this tape, and it is the best thing in the world. This has ALL of the Smashing Pumpkins videos that they released except for "The End is the Beginning is the End" which is off of the Batman sound track.

Watching every one of the Smashing Pumpkins videos, you can see the changes in styles, in moods and in ways of thinking for everyone in the band. You can see who was replaced due to conflicts within the band, and how their music was affected by it. This is the ultimate piece of Smashing Pumpkins history, because not only can you hear how the Smashing Pumpkins sound matured, you can see how the band grew up.

Videos like "Try Try Try" and "1979" will always leave me with an empty feeling in my stomach, because they make me think of things I will not... I hope I won't do. Then there are videos like "Today" which make you want to jump up and say "I want to live!" And then there are videos you watch, back when they were in their "artsy" stage, like "Tonight Tonight" and "Thirty Three" that make you think to yourself "Ahhh... I love this. I'm going to go lay on the sidewalk and stare at the clouds." Also really cool about the movie is the commentary at the end that talk about all the videos they did. They talk about most of the videos, like the party scene from 1979, where the band just began playing their well known songs, and all the kids basically got a free Smashing Pumpkins concert.

Although it may have cost me $25.00 bucks to buy, I'm not complaining one bit. The movie is more than worth it's weight in gold, and I was willing to pay up to $50.00 to get this terrific piece of Smashing Pumpkins paraphernalia. Go out and buy this video today. You will be happy for the rest of your life.

Today is the greatest day I've ever known.

This DVD is compiled with every music video the Smashing Pumpkins ever did, except the one from the Batman & Robin soundtrack, "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning". The Pumpkins is one of greatest bands of all time, with their unique inspiration and daring approaches to music. In general, their songs and art and photographs in their album booklets have always had a theme of the complicated happy and sad concepts of nostalgia, which I find very unique, being inspired by personal past, values, and so on. The lyrics have always been deeply poetic, and Corgan's voice is unique and distinctly recognizable, though you either love it or hate it. Iha's guitar has always been new sounds to my ears, and has always connected very well with D'arcy and Auf Der Maur's great bass playing. And Chamberlin is a god of drums, with his interesting choice of paces with a lot of the songs (especially in "Tonight, Tonight"). The videos have had daring approaches that don't leave the themes of their own albums. They've always tried to be different from the usual MTV videos and did a good job with that, like "Ava Adore" and "Tonight, Tonight". What's interesting is that they don't leave their past videos alone either ("1979" seems to have a sequel, "Perfect"). Pumpkin fans will love this DVD. However, some of the images in their videos are incredibly disturbing ("Try, Try, Try") though it is a very powerful video with a message to tell. And it includes the short film "Try" as well.

Anyway, if you like the Pumpkins to any degree, I highly recommend this DVD. You'd have to be biased against them to not like at least one video, in which many have unique artistic approaches and inspiration that follows well with their incredible music.

This is a great movie. I have the dvd. It was the best thing i have ever bought. It has 18 videos and a 15 min. short film. It also includes commentary and some have outtakes and extended versions. The commentary is given by the maker of the video, Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain, and James Iha. There may be others but I don't know who they are. Any Smashing Pumpkins fan would be proud of this movie. If you are any sort of fan you should buy this. You will not regret it. And to those who don't believe Smashing Pumpkins are good you just don't know good music when you hear it and I would love to hear you try and play half as good. It's a must buy video.

The wise leader of a band once known as The Smashing Pumpkins once said that you can't be greater than Elvis, change things as much as The Beatles, or be original as Led Zeppelin. All you can do is rip them off. This is true to some extent, but Billy Corgan, the mastermind behind SP, created music beyond what others at the time were doing. The only band who did something far more different at the time of the Pumpkins was Primus, a bass-based group. But nobody put on a better show.

In 1995, the Pumpkins reached their peak with the release of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a name taken from a pun game the band played, and the first single, "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," which placed them on the top of the rock kingdom, only to be brought down by the Britneys of the world a few years later.

In this DVD, Billy and the gang have captured all of the emotion you can into a video. Commentary included with the videos is an awesome bonus for the diehards (like me.) The only DVDs with more energy and emotion you can find are live.

If you like this, I suggest the Vieuphoria DVD, a collection of live shows from the Siamese Dream era. It captures all of the emotion and energy of Billy Corgan and his cohorts.

I adore the Pumpkins, this just goes to show how successful the band really was, and hopefully will be again as they have recently re-united and are currently recording a new album for those people who haven't been informed.

Although the 'Gish' videos are low-budget, I love the dark and dingy effect it portrays, which unifies perfectly with their psychedelic and heavy grunge style of music.

Siamese Dream is really superb, it continues to build sonic themes with the vibrant psychedelic colours in videos such as 'Cherub Rock' and 'Today'. This then contrasts with the melancholy conveyed through 'Disarm' video, which I love.

After Siamese Dream, the videos begin to merge perfectly with music, they are real masterpieces. They show how diverse the Pumpkins really are with their music.

All of these videos echo the meaning of their songs excellently. It's definitely worth buying whether you're a Pumpkin fan or not.

This video is absolutely wonderful. The Pumpkins are most definitely the most creative and original band of the 90's, possibly of the 20th century.

The video contains all of their videos as well as a video from their final show. It also contains multiple making of video's as well as commentary of many of the music video's. If you have never seen their videos but are familiar with their music(or even if your not...get into it!) watch Thirsty-Three, Ava Adore or Today, amazing spectacles of this band's sher imaginative minds.

I cam't wait for them to release their comeback album, which has no date as of now. But when it comes out, they will be changing music again for the better.

The videos the Smashing Pumpkins have are very unique. The videos are like a dream and a true masterpiece how they are thought up.

It is amazing how all the band members come together and play as a band, not like crummy repetitive bands such as Papa Roach, Good Charlotte, My Chemical Romance, etc. What also is amazing about the Pumpkins is how their music is of a wide variety. Music now a days seem to always follow the same verse chorus verse chorus bridge scheme, but the Pumpkins do different structures and different genres. You can see their variety by listening to these videos, watching slow relaxing songs to rock songs like bullet with butterfly wings. Which also like all is a great video.

The Smashing Pumpkins are definitely one of the best bands of the 90's. Their lyrics are always entertaining and meaningful, and their songs just sound good! This movie is a great movie for the band. It's basically a library of their best songs/videos. And are their videos ever entertaining. With the exception of one video, all their videos break away from the usual rock band display of 'live' concerts, and smashing guitars. Instead their videos are very entertaining, each of them telling a story...which sometimes seem to have no link to the meaning of the song! None the less, the videos are very fun to watch. Other then the videos, the only other feature are commentary by the band, and a short film called 'Try'. The short film is a bit disturbing, but it carries a message. Anyways, all in all, I would give this film an 8.9 out of 10, and recommend it to any Smashing Pumpkins fan.

Saying that the Smashing Pumpkins are the best in rock history is slightly misleading because their sound varies so much from song to song I wouldn't be suprised if they fit under country or hip-hop in some cases. Although their music is extremely deep in tone (at least their non-"Bullet with Butterfly Wings" songs), their videos are just as good. Some worth noting are "Tonight, Tonight", "Stand Inside Your Love", and "Thirty-Three". It is a shame their won't be a band as epic as them anymore, now we only have Brittany Spears and Zwan. Which is worse? I'm not sure...

I'm not a big fan of any music groups, but I have always enjoyed a lot of the Pumpkins' songs. Generally the music videos on this DVD are excellent quality, taking advantage of DVD's capabilities (video typically utilizes the full 720 x 480, at high data rates reaching around 7-8 Megabits). The DVD is filled as far as it will go, reaching almost 8 gigabytes. Although I'm not a hard-core obsessed fan, I really enjoy this DVD! The videos are typically brilliant, and a few of them are some of the best videos ever made (1979, Tonight Tonight, come to mind). To tell you the truth: I have never purchased any Smashing Pumpkins albums before, I had only downloaded a few mp3's. If you have some good speakers hooked up to your DVD player, I think this DVD would be worth the money even if there wasn't any video - the 20 audio tracks alone are great. I highly recommend this!

even though i have all of the pumpkins' videos on my computer, the commentary is very much worth the dvd, and having bought the dvd makes me feel as if some how i've contributed to keeping the memory of the pumpkins alive even after the demise of the band.

This is a great collection of videos spanning the career of one of the most influential bands of the 90's. Obviously the Pumpkins aren't for everyone (see previous review), but if you are a fan, were a fan, or think you might be a fan, this is the definitive video collection that you must see. It shows the progression of the band and it's music through 13 years of it's existence.

Once in a while there comes a band that has the power to really knock your socks off through their music and aesthetic image--Smashing Pumpkins is one of those bands. Their hits such as "Disarm", "Today", and "Cherub Rock" hearken back to the halycon days of alternative rock. While their darker more cynical songs "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", "Zero", and "1979" prove that they indeed had the chops to hang with the rest of the alt-rock gods. It's just too bad that the Pumpkins broke up when they did; I strongly believe that if they had just stuck together through the drudgery of Adore and the absolutely tedious Machina album, they could've made a huge comeback. I mean, just look at what Green Day achieved: they managed to make a great new album while cementing themselves among younger fans for years to come! Who knows, maybe if they had stuck together, Zero t-shirts might've been brought back into style and Billy Corgan's face might be the one plastered on this month's Rolling Stone. Instead, what do we fans get? Two lackluster experimental albums and a really crappy solo effort from Corgan. But back to the videos. My personal favorites are "Today" and "1979." Why? Because each video is done in such a relaxed, carefree way that you will find yourself just drifting off to sleep as the melodies carry you away. Yeah, I guess production-values on "Today" suck, but that's what makes it so great. "1979" on the other hand, delivers a Dazed and Confused-esquire "story" about kids on summer vacation (all though, they all where jackets and long pants throughout the video), who decide to cause mischief because they're bored. What's interesting about the video, is that even though it's supposed to take place in 1979, all the kids look like grunge-rockers (clearly the result of taking out an ad looking for teens for the video). Also, in the convenience store scene, if you look carefully enough you can pick out products that didn't exist until after 1979. But who the heck cares about this technical crap anyway? It's a freakin' music video! God, I wish they still made them like this, instead of all the "punk-rock" videos that have become a permanent fixture on FUSE and MTV. Whatever happened to real rock, instead of this well-I-flunked-out-of-college-guess-I'll-go-start-a-punk-band crap? It seems like MTV totally discourages music from artists like the Pumpkins; thanks, Good Charlotte. Well, anyway, if you're fan of alt-rock, pick this up--you won't regret it.

billy corgan is a genius (not corigan you t**t, if your going to insult a man who's changed rock forever then at least get his name right)its understandable that not everyone will appreciate his voice but its always tinged with emotion and its sure better than the monotonous drone of most new creed like bands our there. i for one understand why smashing pumpkins were so critically acclaimed and why this video and all of there albums sold so well; its because the albums were so well crafted with epic ballads and multi facetted rock. the stuff is definately not unoriginal as has been suggested, its quite the opposite. every song is unique and the band was always striving to experimint with new sounds. do yourself a favour kids check out the smashing pumpkins first three albums (gish, simese dream and mellon collie and the infinte sadness) and if you are any kind of self respecting rock band then you won't be dissapinted. oh and this video is good value too, the guys rock even harder live.
