Bryan Yuen Sage has spent the last two years of his life among criminals as a vigilante that has become something of an urban legend. While fearing he's on his last bit of humanity, his former best friend, Kevin Matthew Smith, experiences a similar tragedy - the murder of a significant other. Soon Kevin is on the same dark path as his friend, who he believed dead.

The film began production in the summer of 2003 with a different story, one that would work as a prequel to what the final film became, which explores the "Bryan Sage" characters origin. Production halted early in 2004 and resumed with a different storyline in the summer of 2004. Bryan Sage's flashbacks in the final film were taken from footage shot for the original version.
