Droomtijd (2006) Online

I was really impressed by this film, i've seen it at FIDEC (Film Festival for Schools of Cinema) in Huy, Belgium. The general mood of the film sends the viewer into a world where time is "your best friend" an where countless hours are spent in a factory working. The main character (who looked a bit like Guy Pierce in The Time Machine) is genuine and really pulls off a brilliant role. The sets are fantastic and wonderfully construct the world and the fairy-tale. The music i found haunting and just beautiful and really sets the mood for the story that unfolds. All i can say is that this film is a gem and is really nicely done in the art department as in directing. Kudos to Tom for creating a fantastic tale of human emotion, of love and hope.

I don't understand the review score on this site.. 6.8 is just to low. You know.. this short film is probable the best student short I've ever seen. More: it's one of the best shorts I've ever seen. I've seen the film several times and I really really like this movie: the atmosphere, the music, the story, the actors, the style, art direction,.. I wish I can make a short like this someday. I saw it back in 2006. When I saw in 2012 the trailer of Toms next movie: death of a shadow, i knew: this is the same director!!! He has his own style that you immediately recognize.

I hope Tom van Avermaet is making a feature film.. I will be the first one the see the movie in the theater :)
