Frasier Roz and the Schnoz (1993–2004) Online

Roz stays with Frasier while her new apartment is being painted, and panics when she receives a message from Rick's parents, her baby's future grandparents. Frasier invites them for dinner. Both parents have enormous noses, and the Crane family spends the whole evening desperately trying to hide their laughter.
Episode complete credited cast:
Kelsey Grammer Kelsey Grammer - Dr. Frasier Crane
Jane Leeves Jane Leeves - Daphne Moon
David Hyde Pierce David Hyde Pierce - Dr. Niles Crane
Peri Gilpin Peri Gilpin - Roz Doyle
John Mahoney John Mahoney - Martin Crane
Jordan Baker Jordan Baker - Paula Garrett
Kevin Kilner Kevin Kilner - Steve Garrett
Amy Landers Amy Landers - Waitress

Kevin Kilner and Jordan Baker, who play the Garretts, are married in real life.

Peri Gilpin (Roz) lists this episode as her favourite.

This is one of eight episodes in which Roz's (Peri Gilpin) name features in the title. This is more than any other character apart from Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) himself.

Per the title, the Schnoz was a nickname linked to comedian Jimmy Durante.

It is apparently 5 years since Daphne (Jane Leeves) moved in with the Cranes and started working for them. She moves in in September 1993. It is May 1998 in this episode--a few months short of 5 years.

It is revealed that Daphne's birthstone is Sapphire, meaning her birthday is in September. However, in season nine's "The Guilt Trippers," we see her celebrating her birthday in May.

This is one of my most favorite episodes of the series. Peri Gilpin also lists it as one of her favorites. The camera angles are brilliant, the storyline humorous, but not offensive, and the laughter of the actors is genuine. I've seen the episode dozens of times and still laugh out loud each time! In this episode, the parents of the young man who got Roz pregnant, wish to meet her to offer their support. Roz is staying at Frasier's while her apartment is being painted. When the grandparents-to-be arrive, the Frasier clan are confronted with a humorous aspect which their visitors possess. It is great fun to watch the actors attempt to suppress their own laughter throughout the episode. It reminds me of Harvey Korman attempting not to laugh during scenes of the Carol Burnett show.

This is one of the few Frasier episodes that I really can't stand. The way the regular characters react to the Garrett's appearance is downright cruel. I can just about picture it from down-to-earth cop Martin, but the other characters are usually much more sympathetic. The attempt at a touching ending falls flat. The whole thing is more typical of Everybody Loves Raymond or something equally gutter-bound.

The dialogue twists are a little unbelievable as well - of all the dog breeds in the world, a Schnauzer? Are the Garretts really oblivious to their appearance? The side-story about the earrings is pretty forgettable as well. By season 5 the show was slightly losing its edge, never more exemplified than by this. Jeffrey Richman wrote a lot of so-so episodes.
