Song of the New Earth (2014) Online

Seattle filmmaker Ward Serrill (The Heart of the Game, Miramax) follows one man's quest to integrate modern science and ancient mysticism through sound. It features the extraordinary life and work of country singer turned brain scientist and shaman of sound, Tom Kenyon, as he journeys from his homeland of Orcas island to the stage on Broadway, giant caves in the south of France, the golden-chandeliered symphony halls of Vienna and finally to the snowy peaks of Tibet. All along the way the film weaves in surreal events of this eccentric musician's life story and his struggle to reconcile unexplained paranormal experiences with his scientific understanding of reality as he explores his nearly four-octave range voice that has earned him a world-wide following.

Oh.......my.......god! This film is absolutely mesmerizing. From the beginning credits, I was totally enthralled the entire time. Felt like I went into a trance a couple of times when Tom Kenyon was vocalizing his healing sounds. The photography was beautiful, the editing superb, the story captivating, the sound amazing. The three friends I attended the movie with were all captivated by it, too. None of us was familiar with Tom Kenyon, so we had no idea what to expect from the movie. All we knew was that he used his voice in his presentations to audiences and that he had a large following. After seeing the movie, I now know why people gravitate toward him. He is a fascinating man. I can't imagine that there is anyone else on the planet who would stand up in front of an audience and make the sound of whales.

I congratulate the two film makers. They have shown themselves to be masters. I am blown away. The film makers have made a piece of art with grace, charm, and enchantment for the viewer.

Hearing Tom Kenyon sing/chant/tone in person is the best, but this film brings that rare privilege to a broader audience. This film gives a generous amount of time to hearing Tom sing accompanied by beautiful visuals. If you let yourself really drop in it can be very moving. I appreciated the background story of Tom's life and discovery of his singing and the source it comes from. Viewer get to travel the world through his work to Tibet, beautiful places in Europe, and many workshop setting in the United States.

As a person who also does Medicine Singing I found this very heartening to see that Tom has been so successful in delivering his gift to so many receptive people. It was a great reminder to me of my own profound realization that occurred during one of his live workshops.

The part of my brain that edits/critiques as I am watching a film did want it to be a little shorter by the end. Sometimes certain scenes were repeated more than I would have liked, just enough to provoke the thought "Why am I seeing him walking up to this cave again?"

I highly recommend this film if you are even just a little bit interested in how sound can be helpful to people who want to live awake and aware of their full potential.

This is not just a documentary, it is a sound healing experience. As a holistic health-care practitioner, I have been trained in and have experienced several alternative healing modalities, and watching this film was like going to a sound healer and receiving a session. I was lucky enough to see this film in Phoenix and Seattle, and both times I experienced physical sensations throughout my body and an overall sense of peace and tranquility. The healing power of sound is palpable in this film. I invite you to close your eyes while watching (the filmmakers purposely show calming nature scenes during these times)and fully experience Tom's amazing gift. Tom Kenyon's life story is incredible and, and his musical ability is Divine. His down to earth nature and background as a brain researcher give credibility to his fantastical life story. He shows us that it is possible to merge spirituality with everyday life. I highly recommend this movie to everybody, we all need to feel peaceful in this crazy world!

This intriguing documentary dives into the delicious (and sometimes eccentric) sonic world of sound healer, Tom Kenyon, exploring his philosophies, his science, his music and his life story. This is a movie to challenge your belief systems!

The film-makers take a sensitive and curious approach to Tom's life and work, avoiding New-Agey truisms and sentimentality. The documentary includes some beautiful soundscapes set to hypnotic images that take the viewer into the otherworld that Tom inhabits. We travel across the planet with Tom as he connects with otherworldly beings through song and sound, and takes his fans on epic musical and mystical journeys.

A feast for both the eyes and ears and a film sure to provoke thought and conversation.

This film is such a deep experience. Anyone on a spiritual path or in search of healing: this is a well of confirmation, realization, answers. The sounds are deeply moving, meditative actually. Closing one's eyes and listening adds a deeper dimension to the story being told. After watching this film I felt so FULL. Full of inspiration. Full of purpose. Watching this film was like being reminded of my calling. It is a wake up call to us all. I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience this film. I will be seeking out more of Tom's writings and music for my journey. If you are on this page reading these reviews, you are being called to Tom and the healing he inspires.
