Creator Ryan Murphy says the show's original title, "4 oz." referred to the average weight of a man's penis.
John Landgraf was the one who made the call to not go forward with this pilot. He felt, for the series to have worked creatively, it would have required more nudity than an advertiser-supported network like FX could have gotten away with at that time.
