This episode features the main characters creating a rumor that actor Rob Schneider hires Mexican day laborers to choke him in the shower while he touches himself. Two years earlier, the episode of My Name is Earl ("Joy's Wedding" (1.8)) includes a sound bite from the news in which the reporter says "Coming up next, what secret involving day laborers is Rob Schneider trying to hide?".

When Lois is trying to shoot Stewie with the Gatling gun, the bullets hit paintings of Ronald Reagan and George Bush, then miss a painting of a naked Bill Clinton before hitting and then obliterating a painting of George W. Bush.

The extended version has a musical number, where one of the lyrics say: "And while we're on the subject, HBO deserves a whack for ending The Sopranos (1999) with a fucking cut to black!" This hints at the twist ending where Stewie says, "Well, at least it didn't end like The Sopranos (1999).

The pilot episode of Family Guy (1999) first premiered exactly three weeks after the pilot episode of The Sopranos (1999).

This episode is heavily censored when it runs on German TV. (The same happened to other episodes and also Seth MacFarlane's other Animated series 'American Dad ' ). Almost the whole finale makes no sense due to the cutting.

An early indication that the whole thing (after Lois' murder in the previous episode) is one of Stewies simulations, is that the whole family suddenly understands everything that Stewie says.

The episode is a reference to the previous one but with the names reversed.
