After waiting for more than 11 years for a new Mario Tennis on a home console, seeing this really excited many, including myself, and considering how amazing Mario Power Tennis was, it was nerve racking to see how much this game would bring to the table. Unfortunately, this game feels like a massive slap in the face, especially for those who waited that long, because this game has absolutely nothing at all that made every other Mario Tennis game intriguing. Not to say this game has nothing, as it's visuals and gameplay are both fantastic, as at first glance, it sure looks like a step forward for the series. But, with the overwhelming lack of modes and lackluster character roster, this really sucks as a game, because there's literally not much to do here. And coming after Mario Power Tennis makes it all that much more disappointing. If you want to do the absolute bare minimum in a Mario Tennis game, then you might enjoy this, but for everyone else, just don't worry about this garbage, because, while it looks and plays great, neither really matter in the grand scheme of things considering how many steps back this game took, making this an extremely bare-bones experience and easily one of, if not the worst Mario sports game out there. Just don't bother.
