Randolph Mantooth plays a paramedic in this episode. Of course he would soon become a famous paramedic in the TV show Emergency!, which was also produced by Universal.
McCloud was not a sheriff, but a Deputy US Marshal. This episode starts out with a narrative with different facts than the pilot.
The title on the DVD, and the title that comes up on the screen at sign-on, is "Man from Taos" (see Alternate Versions).
The title misquoted the quote which was, "Who says you can't make new friends in New York?"
For the syndicated version, Marj Dusay's dialog is dubbed by a different actress. Because her dialog had to be changed to reflect the altered story line to bridge the originally two different stories, her original lines wouldn't fit and they had to be changed.
