Aside from the sickness he's suffering Wesley believes he has been "touched" by some voodoo cult. Originally intended to be produced by Universal as the third installment of a trilogy of Röster från andra sidan graven (1989) movies, but plans were scrapped after Bordello of Blood (1996) bombed in theaters.
Miramax purchased the rights from Universal and removed all references to the Röster från andra sidan graven (1989) franchise, so that it could be released as a stand alone movie.
Alice Dodgson's (Jennifer Grey's) name is a nod to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Her first name is Alice, and her last name is Dodgson, the surname of Charles Dodgson (a.k.a. author Lewis Carroll).
Ron Taylor's final acting role.
For the scenes with the crypt keeper (US version), a cheap, rigid, hard-plastic rod puppet is used. Unlike the animatronic puppet used in the previous Tales from the Crypt series and movies.
Rob Cohen was previously attached as producer and director.
The only film in the series not to be released in the UK
