****SPOILERS****US Government Case file #7169 has to do with a real 1st class jerk who tired to break into the upper crust of society, as a gentleman, and ended up not only getting convicted of tax evasion but ratting out the members of the mob that he did the laundry-of dirty money- for to save his rotten neck. How Scottie Barrow, Paul Langton, got a job as the financial whiz for the mob makes no sense at all since he never graduate grade school and couldn't according to his abused wife Mona, Betty Lou Gerson, count beyond double digits!

Running a night club in Chicago Barrow wanted to drop his wife for classy opera singer Cecilia Jaroso, Dorothy Green, not that he was impressed by her voice or good looks but in thinking she comes from royalty.Planning to escape with mob money to the south of France with Cecilia Barrow gets the shock of his life in her telling him, quite truthfully, that she has no royal breeding but in fact comes from present stock! A revelation that totally freaks the social climber out. It's Borrows old lady Mona who really puts the whammy on him by informing his boss mob king Jim Houston, Robert Griffin, that he's planning to check out of the country with his money that he's been put in charge that brings him back to reality.

Brought back to Chicago-from Rome Italy- by Houston's thugs to face the music Barrow gets his a** saved by non other then the US Government Agent Jennings, John Stephenson, who just happened to drop into Houston's pad as he was about to take his last ride. Seeing his chance and going for it Barrow having nothing to lose but his life offers to testify against Houston and his boys in order to save his neck. It was a good trade on Barrow's part by getting 2 1/2 behind bars for tax evasion which was a lot better then what he was facing at the time: A bullet in the head and a dip to the bottom of Lake Michigan.
