In Providence, Rhode Island, the local Gloria kills a man claiming that an angel in a beautiful white light had chosen her for redemption and asked her to stab the sinner to accomplish God's will. Dean and Sam investigate the case and they discover that other people had been visited by the angel and committed murders. Further, the angel has appeared after the death of Father Gregory, who was murdered on the steps of his church two months ago. When Sam is visited by the angel and asked to kill a man, the skeptical and atheist Dean confronts the faith of Sam telling that men cannot be angels and the light is an angry spirit indeed.

On "Houses of the Holy" one of the songs on the album is "No Quarter" and later on, Dean runs out of quarters when using the Magic Fingers.

"Houses of the Holy" is the name of a Led Zeppelin album.

When Dean is using the Magic Fingers, it shows a quick glimpse of his music player. It reads "led zeplin- kashmir" Kashmir is on the 1975 album "Physical Graffiti"

Deans asks Sam, "So she seriously believes that she was touched by an Angel?" "Touched by an Angel" was a 1990's TV drama.

When Sam and Dean first meet Father Reynolds at the church, Sam points a painting depicting the Archangel Michael. When Sam points his finger it looks like he's pointing at Dean which could be an accidental foreshadowing to Dean being Michael's vessel in season 5.

At the end, when he is delivering the last rites, at one point Father Reynolds says "I call upon the Archangel Raphael." Raphael would later appear in the series as an antagonist during the civil war in Heaven.

The painting of Michael is used again in season 12, hiding the location of the Colt in a demon's house. This demon also possesses Michael's lance, which is featured in the painting.
