Daniel Hugh Kelly was a little bit too tall to fit comfortably in the "coyote" car and during the scene where they are recovering the car from the house in the desert they needed to use additional padding on the roofs interior to keep him from hitting his head so hard on the bumpy desert trail they filmed him driving on. If you pay attention ,you will see Daniel Hugh Kelly leaning to the left a lot while driving the "coyote" and the T-tops are usually off.

There were actually 3 "coyote" cars on set during filming. One was used for still shots, one for actual driving ,and a third for performing stunts.
