This computer-animated short explores the elevator rituals everyone knows, but no one discusses. This is a space where the DOWN-trodden and the UP-wardly mobile mingle as one.
Elevator World (1999) Online
In our harried and hectic modern world, the elevator is an island of peace. There, the downtrodden and the upwardly mobile ride together in equality; spatial harmony and aesthetic balance are the goals of all who ride. Computer animation demonstrates these truths as we, the viewers, look down from above on an elevator as it rises from the first to the 15th floor: people come and go, making graceful adjustments to maintain harmony and balance. Somehow, we have all internalized these rules of choreography. What if there's only one rider?
