Among the celebrities and political figures usually spoofed in this series are Mel Tiangco, Mike Enriquez, Pia Guanio, Boy Abunda and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Considered as the Filipino equivalent to Saturday Night Live (1975), as both shows have parody skits, and both air on weekends (athough the Philippine airing of Bubble Gang precedes one American airing Saturday Night Live by a day).

Michael V.'s two music video segments were inspired by Weird Al Yankovic's parody of hit songs. The segments - Myusik Tagalog Bersyon (MTB) and Music English Version (MEV) - further boosted the rating.

The segment, Ang Dating Doon. launched in 1998 was a spoof to the religious program, Ang Dating Daan. They originally intended to quote the Bible, but because of religious sensitivities, they just decided to quote English fairy tales and Tagalog nursery rhymes and make fun of it. It used the soundtrack from Voltes Five (Chôdenji mashin Borutesu Faibu (1977)) as music theme.

The show changed its jingle three times so far. The first jingle was a rock ditty entitled "Bubble Gang (Just Chew It!)", which figured prominently in the show's opening billboard (OBB) from 1995-1997. The second jingle was a reggae, "Chew (The Bubble Gang Ye!)" which had two versions. The first version played in the show's OBB from 1997-1999 while the second version (which was played from 1999-2002) removed the reggae beat and changed it into an a cappela performed by Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid. The current jingle, "Bubble Gang (Pwede!)" was adapted from the Mexican song "La Cucaracha". A second version of the jingle, a candy factory-like sound, is used in the "Bubble Gang" OBB until October 20, 2006.Today's OBB was a third and current version of "Bubble Gang (Pwede!)" with a little bit of tune from the first version, the vocals also returned and a little bit of new tunes also added. All the show's past and present jingles were made by Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. Antonio Aquitania was the one responsible for creating Bubble Gang's hit spoof group Sexballs, which copied the antics of the SexBomb Dancers. Sexballs has also guested as a group in other GMA shows and appeared occasionally in concerts headlined by either Michael V. or Ogie Alcasid.

I guess "Bubble Gang" is the Philippine equivalent of America's "Saturday Night Live", although this shows on Friday night. Also, its episodes are shot earlier, not live. This show started on October 1995 until now. Thus, this is 20 years old, just like me!

Michael V., the show's captain, is the key reason why this show lives on. He's joined with creative and funny writers and the show's mainstay members Rufa Mae Quinto and Antonio Aquitania. Through the years, some members came and went. However, its heart, which is presenting the comedies of the Filipino people, is beating well.

Many Filipino comedy shows receive the ax for low ratings. I think "Bubble Gang" befriends the ax. Hahaha! Oh yeah!

We all know that GMA produces highly recommended-for garbage disposal crap shows, but this one is great. Michael V is such a great performer. He can handle any roles, from a toothless girl, to a cute little baby, to a supermodel, and even as a dog! Michael V has a versatile talent, and he is also every funny! On the other hand, the concept is very original. The commercial spoofs are very funny (specially they're spoof for Epiderm.....can't stop laughing!), the script writer is just very good, the actors are great, this show is really EXCELLENT! Bubble Gang is one of those classics in Philippine TV. This unbeatable show sure flies high! The special effects, though it is not great, it adds the fun in the scene! This show is highly recommended!

Since 1995, Bubble Gang has been giving audiences in the Philippines and around the world an escape from daily stresses and treating them to an hour of some of the best comedy the Philippines has to offer. This creation of Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid features a wide range of gags, including: recurring skits with multiple hilarious endings, parodies of different advertisements on Filipino TV, parodies of Filipino TV shows and personalities (including their "Sexballs" Dancers, poking fun at the Sexbomb Dancers), combined with a wittiness that seems to be lacking in many comedy television shows airing around the world. Many times, because of the ability of the Filipino audience to laugh at anything without malice on their minds, they can get away with different jokes and skits that would get them censored if translated into the North American audience.

Michael V. or "Bitoy", and Ogie Alcasid are superb performers. Both play their characters so well, that even the other members of the cast find it hard not to laugh when in a scene with either or both of them. And both are such talented actors that they can convincingly play characters of any age, gender, sexual preference, level of intelligence, able or disabled, etc. The same goes for the rest of the cast: male cast members Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania, and Boy 2 Quizon have the same ability to play any given character with as much dedication and seriousness that comedy deserves to be played.

The women of Bubble Gang are not only intelligent, funny, and talented, but Bubble Gang has also had a reputation for casting the most beautiful females in the Philippine entertainment industry. The main female players include Rufa Mae Quinto, Ara Mina, Diana Zubiri, Maureene Larrazabal, and Francine Prieto, who are all as funny as they are drop dead gorgeous. They also are able to play any characters thrown at them, whether young or old, celebrity/politician to ordinary woman, but usually relegate the drag-dressing to the male characters, as they play primarily females. Rufa Mae and Maureene are usually the ones who cannot control themselves and are frequently shown laughing at the end of the live gags. While this spells disaster for some comedy shows, it adds to the comedic tone and makes the segments even more funnier.

Bubble Gang is one of the shows that makes me miss our motherland so much because it shows one of the most important Filipino traits: the ability to laugh at oneself, and to make others laugh as well. Unfortunately, because the international TFC "The Filipino Channel" belongs to rival ABS-CBN, the show is not carried outside of the Philippines. Hopefully one day a multi-cultural station will pick it up for Canadian/American Filipinos to be able to have that taste of home again.

Bubble Gang to Philippine television is what Monty Python is to the rest of the world: a legendary comedy show loved by many; copied but never matched.

Bubble Gang was conceptualized ten years ago by comic genius Michael V and multi-talented Ogie Alcasid, who first collaborated with another gag show, namely 'Tropang Trumpo' on another channel. However, when the duo realized they needed growth in their comic careers, they decided to move on being actors in a show to being writers, conceptualizer and directors of a show. Hence, 'Bubble Gang' was born.

Memorable skits and performances include: 'Music English Version' and 'Music Tagalog Bersyon', Ogie's 'Manny Gosh', Muchas Grasas (about a family living in a dumpster), the condom series, the 'caught-in-bed-with-another' series, and much more.

Bubble Gang is currently enjoying their 10-year anniversary month, and fans could expect more of the same thing: funny-as-hell gags and jokes, and that's a good thing.
