Inti Raymi is an ancient Incan ceremony of the sun(defined in Kichwa as Inti). June and July the Indigenous gather in various communities for this historic event. Each community on the mountainside of Mt. Imbabura(15,100ft) hosts an Inti Raymi gathering that lasts days. Families gather. Music is played till the dawn. Musicians dance the circle dance and anyone is welcome to partake. There is food, drink, games for the children offered. The populations of Kichwa Indigenous gather in Quinchuqui for five days.
