As part of the UK's National 48 Hour Film Challenge 2003, the film's writer/director was randomly assigned a title ("The Herb Garden") and a genre ("Romantic comedy") and given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit the film. Since he wasn't able to get his hands on a video camera, he shot the entire film with a still camera, editing the still images together on his computer to create the feeling of motion.
