Alex helps Hailey figure out an easy way to make money, while back at the symphony hall, an older musician collapses when Rodrigo pushes him too hard. After being humiliated by Rodrigo's assistant, Hailey lets off a lifetime of steam, and is caught off guard when Rodrigo makes her an offer.

Early in the episode, Malcolm McDowell hums a small portion of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125. The choral movement from this symphony figured prominently in Stanley Kubrick's film A Clockwork Orange (1971) which also starred Malcolm McDowell.

Hailey and Alex are getting closer. She is so disappointed at her failure to hold up during the Mahler rehearsal. She goes to get her 89 dollar paycheck for her one day in the orchestra. The people there make fun of her behind her back and she goes ballistic and tells them off (she had been drinking before going there and that probably loosened her up). She and Alex have managed to make a few bucks by her playing her oboe in a park and he doing some pretty amazing dance moves and acrobatics. When Roderigo hears her diatribe, he decides to offer her a job as a kind of gopher for him, a sort of Jill of all trades. Meanwhile Thomas is being interviewed for a podcast where all they talk about is Rodrigo. They are interrupted by news that the Tombone player for the orchestra has collapsed during rehearsal. The episode ends with a beautiful scene in the hospital.
