A local ballet company is thrown into confusion when it's temperamental leading dancer, Brett Chilton, is shot and wounded after a party. Detectives learn that everybody in the ballet company hated Chilton, and there are half a dozen suspects with motives for the attack. Chilton the confuses the issue by pretending to know who the guilty party is, and uses his narrow escape to destroy the careers of those around him.
