A well known and successful robber The Actor kills two people during a robbery in Laramie. He is chased by Troop, Johnny, and a third man. Johnny is sent back to Laramie with the third man who is injured. Troop continues on but is bushwhacked by The Actor who steals his gun and badge. A woman Lilac finds the wounded Troop and brings him back to the farm where she lives with her sister Rose and Rose's husband, a judge. Lilac hides Troop in the barn but her sister finds them and has Troop come into the house. The judge arrives and starts a battle of wits with Troop telling Troop he feels all criminals are stupid. Lilac asks Troop to take her with him when he leaves. Troop comes to realize the judge is really The Actor and sets warning traps around the barn where he is staying. When the judge comes after Troop, Troop is able to take him prisoner but Rose confronts the judge telling him she knew who he really was and accidentally shoots him during an argument.

Similar storyline to Cheyenne: The Angry Sky (1958) S3 E20 of Cheyenne which was shown almost two years earlier. Andrew Duggan played the judge and the female characters were also named Rose and Lilac.
