The movie comprises of seven episodes. The first one, not derived from Carver's work and interwoven with the other ones, narrates in a minimalist style the spirit and the essence of Raymond Carver, shown as a carpenter; The other six segments instead are loosely inspired by his work and his narrative modes. In the epilogue, the life of the carpenter is fused with one of the stories and it generates a tangle between fiction and reality, which illustrates perfectly the sense of solitude and the existential crisis of the human spirit in our modern society.
