In this interesting picture we get an idea of the magnitude of the snake industry in Java, where the serpents are captured by the natives and the skins utilized for commercial purposes, which is a very lucrative enterprise. After washing and tanning the skins are made into all sorts of beautiful and useful little objects, which are a rarity on account of their high prices.
