I remember this film from way back, and have been looking everywhere for it ever since!I was so glad to see I am not alone in this pastime! It took me the first few years to get the name of it right!I liked the simple story of romance, and at first, failed to see what the story of the film was hiding! I enjoyed the music as I am a big Pogues fan, and I remember singing the songs for ages afterwards. I really would like to see this again. It has haunted me for years! I have searched high and low, and have been so pleased to find out the names of the actors, as until now, I have been unable to remember who was in it! (though I can see the faces in my head!) This was a totally unique film, and had a very thought provoking topic.

Made for a Channel 4 UK TV Arts strand, I'm not sure if this got much of a cinema release, but it's a cracker. Lovely characterisation of a lonely Irishman working in London, engaging little romance, and then a totally unexpected turnaround. As far as I'm aware it was broadcast once only and has never had a video or DVD release. The Pogues soundtrack, most memorably Cait's performance of the title song, is fantastic - and the appearance of Shane and the Popes as a pub band is another treat. Nobody I know, other than my wife and I, seems to have seen or remember this movie. So, if you would, Channel 4 execs (who read these pages avidly, I'm sure) release it on DVD, put it out in the Arthouses, show it on the telly. We want it again.

i remember this play vividly and have been searching for it to no avail until this week when i found it through Richard Hawleys link. I remember recording it back in 1994 and watching it a few times, it really stuck in my head especially with the Pogues singing in it. I wish it was shown again or we could get a copy of it - heres hoping!!

I remember the bit where Richard Hawley is walking along the side of a river with the Pogues playing a song, but i am not sure which one now. Also the content of the film was good with the twist at the end it was good to see Peter Davidson in it and who was his wife who had the affair with Richard Hawley?
