Katy Perry as a witch. In an Egyptian-themed super-fancy, if overly-cluttered music video.

Where has the fun gone? Like the only other reviewer here states, "style over substance" and that hits the nail right on the head. This is fancy and heavily-themed, but about as much fun as a snooty garden party where tea and cucumber sandwiches will be served. What do you take away after watching this? Ooh, Katy Perry makes for a fine witch. But Taylor Swift knows that already! Ooh, only kidding! Getting back to the serious subject: Afterwards, well, yeah, lavish production set, whole lotta fuss, big on Egyptian stuff, hell, the assorted bric-a- brac could fill a museum. And perhaps there are hidden messages in all of this, it's obviously one esoteric display.

But fun? No. Unless Egyptology is your kink.

The song. What is it supposed to evoke? Nothing fun, that I can tell you. But okay, what we deal with here at IMDb, the music video itself. There are so many negative images that if you freeze-frame it for the sake of ugliness, if that is your thing, you will be richly rewarded. Or if weird is your pleasure, then you will be happy. But from my point of view, something glamorous: Well, yeah, of course, Cleo Kate, there are good moments here, but they are cancelled out by all the ugly visions.

As for Juicy J., well, the very presence of JJ breaks the theme and shoots the music video in the foot. Enough said about myopic brash rappers.

But Katy didn't even need him to foul things up. There is such a lot of unattractive stuff in here that I am just astonished that fans do not speak up and say What Has Happened To Cute & Fun? One Lady Gaga is enough, don't all jump on that boat to sail around on The Bad Ship FreakOutYourMama.

In short, I prefer ROAR and I KISSED A GIRL. Something I can at least, in a way only of course, relate to. These scenarios belong in a sarcophagus.

This is the music video for Katy Perry's dark horse from roughly 1.5 years ago. I usually like her as an artist and she has nice touch to her music videos too I think, but this one here is too much over-the-top for my taste. Great example of style over substance in terms of really everything here. The costumes, the interactions, the sets etc. And it doesn't help that the song is not as catchy as her best songs in my opinion apart from one line maybe. As so many other times, Perry got a big name in here as well, namely Academy Award winner Jordan Houston. He cannot really save the song either though and seems pretty much just there ant not really contributing so he will not take away any attention from Katy "Cleopatra" Perry. A bit disappointed in her this time. Not recommended.
