After being fired from his job as a TV reporter, Balram attempts to get a character certificate from his widower NRI ex-employer, Chaudhary, who lives a wealthy lifestyle in a small town in Andhra Pradesh, along with two daughters, Sandhya and Vidya. Balram is compelled to spend a few days with the Chaudhary family, and is invited to attend Sandhya's wedding with Shankar Singh. Balram finds favor with Chaudhary when he prevents Sandhya from eloping with a male from the U.S.A.. During the wedding ceremony, Sandhya attempts to kill herself, and ends up in hospital. Balram has a change of heart and decides to assist her in eloping with her true love - not realizing that Shankar's hoodlum brother, Bheem, and cruel sister, have quite a few tricks up their respective sleeves that will leave Sandhya with no choice but to return and get married to Shankar.

In India, the film got an A (adults only) certificate while in UK, it received a 12A (12 and above) rating without any cuts.
According to an interview published on 15 May 2006, Dharani said he did not hear anything negative about the film other than comments about the duration, which was trimmed from three hours to two and a half, and this brought people back to the screens.
According to Dharani, Pawan Kalyan trained in martial arts for the film and had to recuperate from an appendix surgery.
The film completed 100 days at 5 centers during its theatrical run.
The film's audio was launched at a silent function arranged at Sunethra School for Blind at Pedda Amberpet in the outskirts of Hyderabad on the evening of 16th March. Tamil hero Joseph Vijay attended this function as guest. It was also the first time Pawan Kalyan attended the audio of launch of his own film.
