Adventure Time with Finn & Jake Up a Tree (2010–2018) Online

Having been magical shrunk to the size of a forest animal, Finn takes up a quest to climb a tree and retrieve his lost flying disc.
Episode cast overview:
Jeremy Shada Jeremy Shada - Finn (voice)
John DiMaggio John DiMaggio - Jake / Additional Voices (voice)
Niki Yang Niki Yang - Lady Rainicorn (voice)
Jim Cummings Jim Cummings - Owl / Porcupine / Lenny the Beaver (voice) (as Jim J. Cummings)
Marc Maron Marc Maron - Squirrel (voice)
Cole Sanchez Cole Sanchez - Additional Voices (voice)

Lady Rainicorn is seen again, this time being pregnant.

It has never been explained how Finn regained his normal size after being shrunk in this episode.

The frisbee flight sequence at the end of this episode is a homage to the sleigh flight sequence in "Spot's Magical Christmas" (1995). Jim Cummings, who voices Owl in this episode, also voiced the male reindeer in Spot's Christmas.

The snail waving to Finn is no more possessed by the Lich.

This is the first time that Finn interacted with the waving snail since "Mortal Recoil"

Near the end of the episode, Jake is seen mixing ice cream and pickles together in a bowl. 'Pickles and ice cream' is thought to be a common craving among pregnant women. Lady Rainicorn is pregnant during this episode, also backed by her baby bump at the picnic at the beginning of the episode.

Only a show like "Adventure Time" would be able to turn something so apparently ordinary as climbing a tree into a extraordinary adventure...And all that in less than 10 minutes.

"Up a Tree" was entertaining to watch, and even when the plot could seem 8at first sight, at least) as something very simple, it manages to be very enjoyable at the same time. I liked a lot the "old-fashioned" designs from the tree animals that appeared in this episode, serving as a nice homage to the common aesthetic from several classic cartoons and comic strips.

In my opinion, the ending from this episode was cute, even if one ambiguous.

This episode gives me a sensation of nostalgia. Perhaps it's the surreal atmosphere created by the artwork, or the way the characters do very little, yet unwittingly inspire unexpected amounts of meaning and emotion, offering the viewer something to ponder. I'm reminded of Nietzsche's idea of der Wille zur Macht, "the Will to Power," by the episode's themes of free will, ambition, and Existentialism.
