If you are interested in romantic dramas, kindly watch this boring movie. But if you want thriller, look somewhere else. An impotent hubby, at least it looks like one, makes her wife mad. It is a boring movie all along.

Adapted from its namesake play which was hugely popular around the 80s, Savita Damodar Paranjpe is an engaging psychological thriller with some fine performances from its lead cast. It's an impressive debut for both - Trupti Toradmal as an actor and John Abraham as a Marathi film producer.

Sharad and Kusum Abhyankar's (Subodh - Trupti) marital life is disturbed by Kusum's frequent outbursts and abdominal pain. Their family doctor isn't able to decide whether Trupti's illness is due to lack of physical intimacy or a split personality disorder.

Sharad seeks help of his relative Ashok (Rakesh Bapat) who suspects Kusum is possessed by a spirit of a lady called Savita Damodar Paranjpe (Hemangi). Incidentally, Savita was Sharad's best friend before Kusum came in to his life..

Director Swapna Waghmare Joshi keeps the narrative taut and the suspense element never wears off right till the end. The audience keeps wondering what will happen next..and the climax aint too predictable either.

On the flipside, there are a few loose ends to the plot. Like why does Sharad continue to share the bedroom with Kusum when he is aware of her being a potential threat to his life. Also, the ending is a bit abrupt. Music is another minus point and that loud background score was avoidable.

Of the cast, Subodh Bhave plays Sharad with right amount of restraint and conviction. Raqesh Bapat is impressive compared to his past hindi film appearances. But the best performance comes from Trupti Toradmal who not only looks gorgeous but also displays myriad emotions ranging from love to lunacy in a perfect manner.

Without comparing it to the original Reema Lagoo play (which I haven't seen), I would still recommend Savita Damodar Paranjpe even with its share of flaws. Go for it!

Spoilers ahead... I didn't had any expectations not I was aware of the Marathi Play from where this movie is inspired. Cast is superb especially Kusum, Ashok. Background music is catchy. Don't know why many people felt it loud... but it is necessary for such thriller but it is repititive. I was amused and shocked by the first palm reading scene ..The way he asks "Who are you?" that one was very interesting..unlike other horror movies this doesn't have any such essence. We could actually feel the pain and frustrations of main protagonists. Only problem I had was the ending which I expected much better...And didn't make much sense... Apart from that movie is good and you can watch it.

It's an average movie, a one time watch. Acting gets melodramatic at times. Songs comes in unexpectedly and partially slows down the flow.

The movie is excellent and all the actors are brilliant, especially Subodh, Trupti and Raqesh. Screenplay is superb and movie is quite gripping till the end. Climax is an absolutely shocker.. Nobody could have imagined the ending. Just loved the movie. Kudos to the director, script and screenplay writer, artists and the producer for having faith in such a script.. A Must Watch Movie..

Its a movie which is well scripted, well acted and overall well executed. The first half is more gripping than the second half. Somewhere in the 2nd half the movie starts loosening up and in some instances becomes comedic for no reason. But wait for the ending as it very unexpected. Definitely worth a one time watch.

If you haven't watched Savita Damodar Paranjpe play then it is a good movie to watch you for. All actors have done superb performances. Few times you will feel that the reactions & dialogues of few characters are lengthy or not required. Background music is awesome but in the 1st half it is loud in few scenes unnecessarily. The movie has maintained it's flow surely. Few scene are funny that you couldn't forget easily especially the end scene. Watch this movie for the performances.

Fantastic Movie ! Hats off the Swapna Waghmare Joshi for bringing this fantastic play to the Big Screen. From Mitwa to Phuge and now SDP she has explored a variety of genres effectively in her last few films. While more of a thriller than a horror film, SDP brought back memories of her serial Mano Ya Na Mano which used to air on Zee.

Fantastic performance by the debutante Trupti Toradmal. I do wish some more time had been spent in developing the character a bit more though. Suboth Bhave is ofcourse fantastic !

Great music. Most of the people were humming it on the way out !All in all a great package.. would definitely recommend watching it !

The end is a clincher !
