Doug and the Endless Forest is a personal documentary focusing on the relationship between a father and son. Through a series of intimate interviews, the filmmaker watches his father open up about his depression, his past as a restaurant owner and his relationships. Doug's past is visited through reenactments of a 1979 novel titled A Woman Alone by Mary Shaver, in which Doug makes a cameo. The reenactment's campy facade unravels into a scene of confession between father and some where some difficult truths are unearthed.
