CHARITY AND THE STRANGE SMELL OF MONEY is without a doubt the worst comedy spaghetti western I've had the misfortune to watch. The English version suffers from horrendous dubbing - the guy doing the parrot's voice is particularly awful - and poor, dark, grainy picture quality. The story is about a guy tasked with delivering a payroll who must figure out a way to protect the loot from the various scheming Mexicans, bandits, and gunslingers out to get it. This is lowest-common-denominator entertainment throughout which constantly descends into inane fight scenes and jokes which just get more and more stupid as time goes on. It's a real dud.

This movie was a hoot - very cleverly performed and a great spoof on Italian spaghetti westerns. Charity Jenkins is a handsome actor who appears very natural and at ease. I wonder what happened to him (Robert Malcolm)? I loved the Italian Mafioso inferences. There are several subplots that drive the movie - the money being the main one. Charity is controlling the delivery of the government's payment for the railroad, but the Italian saloon owner has other plans. So do the Mexican robbers. So does the robber-turned-padre. All of these combine with a little romancing, fighting, chasing, and clever interaction among all the characters. A fun to watch movie!
