Spoofs "The Bachelor" when Denise says to Fran, "You carry that dead rose around like a badge of honor."
Stephanie Hollenbeck was the only cast member to stay with the production during the first two attempts at filming.
Director Heather Robinson wrote the following scenes during filming: the drunk at Club Canton, the speech (and addition of Claudia) and race to the buffet table and having The Phone Guy do his impression of Sean Connery.
Shelter To Home is an actual non profit group in the Detroit area.
Shooting took about five days starting a few days before Halloween and wrapped on Dec. 11. The first test copy was released on Dec. 23.
There were a total of three Walt's; two Connie's and one Debbie and one Fran over the course of filming. Filming started two prior times but were canceled after the previous actors decided they didn't want to participate due to scheduling.
Eric Tuchelske wrote the first draft of the screenplay in April of 1993. After multiple revisions over the years the in joke is when Walt tells Connie to pick up the phone. As everyone knows when a cellphone is turned off no one can hear the caller leave a message.
No holiday was ever mentioned in the original script. It was supposed to be set at the beginning of spring. When filming began in Oct. 2010 it was near Halloween. After production was shut down and resumed it was closer to Valentine's Day, but the original Whiskey Bar had already decorated for St. Patrick's Day. The time of year then became St. Patrick's Day. Once production was halted again and resumed it was Halloween once more.
The characters of Ruthanne and Fran were written into the script. Ruthanne was written in so Connie would have had someone to talk to and Fran was written in to reveal a rivalry between Denise and Fran.
The last film in which Eric Tuchelske and Heather Robinson worked on.
Almost all of the female extras wore clothes bought at thrift stores and all of their jewelry was bought on eBay. Over 80 evening gowns were bought for production with the hope that there would have been more extras.
Eric Tuchelske didn't like the addition of Claudia while filming. He felt Denise should have been the emcee to show her incompetence at how she recklessly spent money on alcohol rather than food (he accidentally bought gravy instead of meatballs)and the speech was to have taken place following a dinner. He continuously explained this to Heather Robinson and ignoring his advice added a "rush" to the table which to this day still he still dislikes.
