Danny Boy won the Best Drama Award at the 6th Annual Wood Green International Short Film Festival, which took place from 18th-20th April 2008 in London. The film was screened by Irish broadcaster RTE in October 2008 as part of its short film series Short Cuts. A 20-minute behind-the-scenes documentary was filmed by Joe Whil during the three-day shoot and included on the DVD. The film is based on a true story, which occurred in Hove, East Sussex, England.
