Ten years ago, Dr. De Prins moved to Monaco and turned over his private clinic De Wingerd to his son Nico. Since then he's only fascinated by Orchid, the real chief is top employee Norbert. He falls in love with widowed Tessa, and embraces her naive eight year old daughter Ella. However Norbert's horrible child, Clio is not happy about this. So after Tessa dies from a fall, Clio pesters gullible Ella and tricks her father into believing she's out of control and committed arson. So Elle gets packed off to rough aunt Ursula, who runs a camping site. She takes Clio's advices to cash Norbert's checks and send happy letters on behalf of Ella, but really treat her as a Cinderella and pretend to give her home schooling.
