The Peace Offering; or, The Absconding Bridget (1911) Online
Howard Graham is married to a red-headed wife, which means she has a very bad temper. Bridget, the cook, who is also red-headed, is not immune from fits of anger, nor free from being a subject of the spleen of her mistress. Bridget feels that she has endured Mrs. Graham's abuse long enough and decides to take French leave. On her way to the front door, she espies Mrs. Graham's fur coat. After some hesitancy she takes the garment, leaving her own raglan in its place. Mrs. Graham summons the police sergeant, who starts his men on the track of the guilty person. The following morning, Mrs. Graham meets Bridget. After due gossip, Bridget returns the coat to Mrs. Graham, and on her way home she (Mrs. Graham), is captured by the police. She is released by her husband, who assures the police that she is not the guilty person.
