The film was shot on a practical location: Jim's own apartment.
After the success of his first film, I'm Not Matt Damon (2009), Jim Rothman decided to shoot a much simpler follow-up, trying his hand at adult comedy. As I'm Not Matt Damon (2009) was a more complex 9 day shoot, in order to raise the ante for this film, for what essentially was a 2 day "apartment shoot", Jim decided to cast a recognizable person for the role of his girlfriend. For this, he turned to 'Vida Guerra.'
During the bedroom scene, having never worked with Vida Guerra before, every time Jim Rothman had to "go down there", Jim embarrassingly said, "I'm sorry" to Vida, to which she replied, "It's okay."
When Jim Rothman called Vida Guerra to discuss the film, because of the nature of the low budget shoot, Jim asked Vida to bring her own lingerie. As Vida was traveling, she explained she didn't have any with her. Jim obliged to buy her some. He was embarrassed to ask her what her size was. They both shared the laugh.
During the "licking of the meat scene" Jim Rothman placed the meat in the watery bowl for all the angles shot, shooting the close up last. By the time Jim licked the meat, it had been sitting under a lamp for over an hour. His reaction was real.
In the beginning of the film, Jim Rothman is reading a book entitled, "101 Ways to Tell She's Faking It." The book cover is a prop, created solely for the film. The author is credited as Dr. 'Anselm Clinard.' Anselm Clinard is Jim's good friend.
This is the second time Jim Rothman has written, directed, starred in, produced, and executive produced a film. His first film was I'm Not Matt Damon (2009).
Due to audio issues, Robert B. Silver's performance took 16 takes in order to get "clean lines" of his audio. His performance was edited together from all of these takes.
The low budget nature of the shoot caused crew to perform double duties. Even Robert B. Silver, once finished with his performance, acted as a production assistant.
The back of the book Jim Rothman is reading in the beginning of the film says the following: 101 Ways to Tell She's Faking It, the #1 Best Seller, and the top pick on the NY Times "Best Books to get Laid" list, is an insightful tale by reputed sex therapist, Dr. Anselm Clinard and his adventures in understanding the fake "O". The book, published in 2010, begins by revealing the true and sometimes humorous accounts of Dr. Clinard's quest for good, positive, and "real" encounters with his girlfriend, Edith May. During their time together, Dr. Cinard realized that Edith's unnatural moans conflicted heavily with what he describes in this book as, "the real thing". It was on the basis of this encounter, and the growing frustration he had with Edith may, that Dr. Clinard decided to give up his professional career as a lumberjack, enrolled in the New York Sex Education Academy and, after 8 tiring years of long and hard work, graduated with a Masters in Sex Education counseling. All through his academics, his studies focused not only the multiple sounds, grunts, moans otherwise ear piercing nature of the female scream, but also the origin of the "fake orgasm" and why females would do something so unproductive to themselves. It was during this time that Dr. Clinard realized that, if a man were able to identify all the different ways a woman can fake an orgasm, the man would be able to recognize this, have a candid, heart to heart conversation with her, and communicate to find a much more satisfying way for their respective partners to bump ugly. It was this discovery and the number of fake orgasms that fill the content of this book. 101 Ways to Tell She's Faking It gives the reader the knowledge and advice and clarity he or she might need, in order to tell when the "O" is a no no, and what can be done to increase pleasure, stimulation and having her avoid using the mechanical one-eye.
TITLE DROP: While Jim Rothman actually says "go down there" this is understood to still refer to the title meaning and origin.
