Gene Kelly plays a vagrant arriving in a farm where there is a Young girl with her mother. A vary shy and bit mute girl whose Kelly will try to seduce, and to marry. Kelly is outstanding in this very ambivalent character who oscillates between fascination and nastiness. Don't miss the scene where he leaves her alone in a road house just before getting away with the car.
