I once read that Dracula was the most often filmed character in movie history, and since that reckoning vampires have even gone up in mass-culture popularity. 50-year-old porn outfit Private goes into the throat-biting genre with this rather dull effort made by Alex Conte, who had previously made at least one fine video for Marc Dorcel.

Most of the story is a lengthy flashback dictated into a recording by our old-coot hero of sorts, detailing how his family was ruined by a vampire cult. We see the next generation get bitten and doing some subsequent biting of their own, but the modern-day setting lacks atmosphere, and in place of interesting plot twists & turns there is the usual emphasis on lengthy sex scenes. Private fans eat that up, so they're welcome to it, limiting the title's shelf life and preventing it from crossover potential into the horror market. Once upon a time Private was more ambitious in shooting mega-productions with some content, but not in these decadent times.

I lost interest early on in the fate of the protagonists, probably because Conte and his uncredited writer had little interest in the first place. After the flashback ends, and our hero becomes involved in the action, the open ending is a stinker, leading to the dreaded sequelitis final line of the picture: "This is not over".

There's a huge cast list, generated by a final reel visit to a sex club where dozens of recognizable (if not superstar) Euro porn players are humping away in a dull orgy.
