Based on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Harry Potter books.

The video premiered on YouTube July 22, 2010 and within 2 days had gotten over 160,000 views, making StarKid Productions page the most viewed of the day.

The video version premiered it its entirety at Infinitus, a Harry Potter convention before it was released on YouTube.

At one point, Ron tries to take the Zac Efron poster off the wall only to realize that "it's stuck on there with magic." The gang later "finds" the same poster in another room in the castle, with the excuse being that "there's one in every room." The poster is later discovered to be Peter Pettigrew. Apparently, Joey Richter has trouble taking the poster prop off the set wall and he and the other actors improvise the following lines. In reality, this is a staged "goof" after the original revelation of what Peter Pettigrew was was poorly received. Matt Lang and Nick Lang decided to push this joke to its limits, even having stagehands (unseen in the filmed version) come onstage and try to take the poster down.

This is an amazing show, Joe playing umbridge is amazing and the jokes are hilarious. But most important of all it has a functioning story! This came out years before Harry Potter and the Cursed child and it has a similar storyline (even though they go very different ways). This play is a lot more true to the Harry Potter franchise and follow the rules they've set up (mostly), but Cursed Child which is J.K. Rowling approved is garbage compared to this.

This is a much watch! But first watch A Very Potter Musical!

So funny! I loves all the lines, especially Ron's/Joey's. They are so sarcastic and dumb.

I love Darren Criss and the whole of StarKid. Harry is so funny during the dance, Hermione as well! I loved how Hermione said "I used to think looks weren't important but now I realize it's more important than ANYTHING!" and Ron's "When I see her my heart starts to hurt and I know it's her fault, that bitch!" or something.

Umbridge/Moma was so funny! I loved the acting and for a man so masculine as him it takes courage to put on a dress and I admire that to 100%!
