This is the only "American Tail" film not to have Tony Toponi pursue with anymore female mice. The concept that was given to Tony in Feivel, der Mauswanderer 3: Der Schatz von Manhattan (1998) (involving him pursuing Cholena) was found as a canonical mistake. This concept is removed from Tony for the finale due to the well-regarded pairing between him and Bridget since Feivel, der Mauswanderer (1986), declaring Tony and Bridget as the franchise's official main couple.
Lacey Chabert is the first actress to play Tanya for more than one instalment of 'An American Tail'. The first 2 films each had different actresses.
This marks the final film of the "An American Tail" franchise. The negative reception of the infamous Feivel, der Mauswanderer 3: Der Schatz von Manhattan (1998) may have caused Universal Studios to cease production on the franchise, but did managed to do the final chapter.
This movie was given stricter changes to this movie due to concept issues from Feivel, der Mauswanderer 3: Der Schatz von Manhattan (1998) because of some of the mature theme that were considered "out of place" for "An American Tail". In order to make it more approval for the younger audiences, violent sequences are toned down and is given more brightly lovable characters to replace the cast from the third film.
