Ben Dover's Lewd in Liverpool (1996) Online

Steve Perry aka Ben Dover won me over with his classic "Duke of Knockers II", one of the best prehistoric Brit Porn videos, showcasing Minka before she became addicted to silicone. At the same time, he was grinding out these amateur videos, interesting only as historical artifacts.

This one set in Liverpool is dismal for many reasons. First off, Perry makes no perceptible use of the location -even some idiotic Playboy salute to the Girls of Hooters or Walmart from decades past makes more sense. We don't get to see even touristy views of the Beatles birthplace, nor do the girls seem to be local - I didn't even detect a minimum daily requirement of those cute Liverpudlian accents on the soundtrack.

Worse yet, his "Ben Dover" character, manning the camera, asking inane interview questions, and doing lots of heavy breathing when he isn't joining in on the humping, is a not-ready-for-prime-time ripoff of many successful American pornographers, notably John the Buttman Stagliano. And as far as performance is concerned, Perry can't hold a candle to pro-am champ Rodney Moore, who oddly enough has an alternate "straight" moniker of David Perry, not to be confused with the Euro porn actor.

Closer to home, Omar Williams uses the same format but is far more entertaining with an engaging personality compared to Perry.

The girls he pulls here are unfortunately closer to the "skank" bucket on the porno scale than one would like, and the ringer in the group, a beauty named Sam, refuses to get down, so the audience must suffer through an irritating bait & switch. There is talk at one point of shooting for a 1995 calendar, so this production might date back to 1994.

I received this obscure DVD as a freebie in the mail, and it barely earned its expected zero points rather than a minus = dead loss.
