So back home in Atlanta, a select group of friends and myself have secretly been huge fans of the movie Grandpa's Magical Toys ( I usually refer to it as Grandpa's Magical Toy Chest..I don't know why...). We memorize the songs, we recreate the dances, we practice the hand claps. And although we are all truly terrified of the scene where the beaver gets up close to the screen and shouts "HAMBONE!" we watch it over and over again. So when I arrived at Georgetown University and met my roommate it wasn't exactly the kind of favorite movie you would bring up the first day of conversation. But as the weeks passed and we became closer, I casually referenced my favorite movie of all time. To my utter joy and surprise, my roommate was also a HUGE fan. And now we can share in the glory of the best musical sing-a-long children's movie ever created. It brings laughter, tears...I just can't even describe how wonderful this film is. I truly believe that it will forever live on in movie history in all its cinematic glory.

THIS IS....WITHOUT A DOUBT...the best movie ever. Like that person from Atlanta, I am also obsessed with this. My cousins and I know all the different parts. Our favorite character is the fat kid in the green shirt who plays the air saxophone is a spasmodic way. Its so funny...i die laughing every time. But of course...the absolute best part is the HAMBONE DANCE. its so scary and enthralling at the same time. when the beaver comes up really close...ahh thats quality entertainment. and how they cant ever touch their knees because of their costumes. great ahhhahahahahahahaha i love IT the beavers name is ruby burns and I'm her biggest fan.

Let me preface this by saying my little sister used to watch this...this...thing. Constantly. And, it is by far the most annoying, obnoxious video of all time. If you think I am being theatrical or going overboard, watch it. Then watch it again. You've now watched it twice, approximately .2% of the number of times that I've seen it.

It is horrible in the tradition of Barney, yet the children are more frightening in their gleefulness. And who's the costume director for this? If I would have worn electric red Ked's to match my red polo shirt, I would have had my ass kicked on the playground in two seconds flat. They (the children) are also the smug, smarmy happy types who grow up to become like that annoying guy waiter in Office Space.

What is my point? Only to attempt to spare the siblings of any children that you are considering buying this for. To the point that I would threaten to run a kitchen magnet over my sister's tape if not faced with the consequences imposed by my parents. My plan finally settled on putting the tracking out of whack on the VCR when she'd watch it and then tell my parents she must have worn the tape out after once she began screaming. Thank God for technically unsophisticated parents, but be forewarned if you are a sibling in today's world, your parents most likely bought it on DVD and you're probably screwed.

The story has a decent plot and some good life lessons. My 1 and 2-year-old watch it from beginning to end. Songs are plentiful and some might stick in your mind for awhile. Some actors crossover into other Wee Sing titles (Punchinello, crayon, etc.), while others are world-class talent. One of the better Wee Sing titles. All in all, a timeless kid video - comparable to Barney. Most songs should be familiar.

Synopsis: Grandson and two friends are magically miniaturized in a room filled with living toys (mostly dolls and animals). They all enjoy singing songs while playing games. All the while, they look for Grandpa's missing key. The toys all come together in the end to help find the key and get the kids back to normal size.

Who is the person who would rate this movie anything but great? He/she is obviously old enough to read and write and use the internet. HELLO - the movie is for 18 month olds to 5 year olds. I had two kids of my own and ran an in-home day care business for seven years and used the Wee Sing movies all the time for educational, entertaining and lively TV time, which was carefully scheduled into my daily routine. I still have fond memories of this and the other movies and so do my now teenage kids. Kids can get up and sing with the movie or sit fixated and entertained by the well filmed, lively interaction of the actors/singers. If you got a little kid and want to see him/her entertained - buy this movie and the other Wee Sing Movies.

This is a very cute movie for the "young at heart". You and your children will fall in love with the characters.

Any children's video could annoy a parent or sibling of course, so don't let that be the judging factor. This video exposes children to songs that they'll hold dear for their whole lives. They can take the dutch girl's jump rope rhymes out onto the playground with them, or try Sailor's clapping songs. Everyone loves to do the Hokey Pokey so why not do it with Maggie the Ragdoll or Jack in the Box?

The Wee-Sing collection is the best there is. Some may find them corny and low budget but their simplicity is what makes them special! I grew up watching them, and plan to show them to my own children some day.

Long Live Wee-Sing!

well i would have to say this was my favorite sing-along type tape my mother could have gotten me. i mean i remember watching it with my little brother, wen he was only a year or two old. I've even used this same tape wall baby-siting, it was a sure fire way to get the kids to calm down for a hour so you can clean up the world-wind they left behind them. now of course the plot is dull, and the people are overly happy but its a kiddie program. i would have to say this is one i don't even mind. i find it far more entertaining then Barney and frankly as a kid who didn't like the stupid purple dinosaur, this is a far better alternative. as well i found the life lesions in this tape to be far better presented then in other children's programs. and as i kid i was far more obliged to lesson to a talking crayon then a purple dinosaur that made goofy sound like a genius.

When I was a kid, I would watch this movie over and over again. I didn't care about anything else. I actually owned four wee sing movies and this one was my second favorite. I may not watch it anymore but to kids, it's great. I would always sing to all of the songs, even dance to them. I would watch it with my friends too and they would love it just as much. Believe me, if you're a parent out there, show your kids this movie. It's filled with magic and fun. Watching little toys grow into life-sized people was amazing. I even imagined my own toys doing this whenever I left the room. Watching this movie is a great way to expand the imagination.

One of the best of the Wee Sing video collection. This video features beautiful sets and costumes, engaging characters, easy-to-follow choreography and one familiar song after another to sing along with. If your children like music, they will watch this video over and over and enjoy singing and dancing along. Songs include The Muffin Man, Farmer in the Dell and The Hokey Pokey. Peter, Sara and David visit Peter's grandfather and his wondrous toy room. When grandpa leaves the children to play they are magically reduced to the size of the toys which come to life and welcome their new playmates. Peter remembers that grandpa has asked them to look for a special key and their new friends help them look for the key which plays an important role in returning the children to their proper size.

I was so taken aback by Brian H's comments that I had to comment myself. I am a 74 year old grandpa with an 8 year old grandson. For the last 4 or 5 years we have watched this together every time he has had an overnight at our house. It's a kids movie and I would not be watching it alone, but seeing his enjoyment and his utter awe with the music and the fun - and with the grandpa - makes me feel great. I often think that this movie would be a great model for a school play or for party games.

If you are an older sibling and it drives you crazy when your younger brother or sister watch it over and over again, I can understand that.

I have loved all of the wee sing videos ever since I was about three years old, and I loved all of them, especially this one. I don't think one day ever passed where I didn't have to have it playing. As for those of you who say it's something only a two-year-old can enjoy, well- yeah that's the point. The title "Wee Sing- Grandpa's Magical Toys" gives it away, or at least it should. All of the Wee Sing videos are most likely for or recommended for children from 2 or 3 to 5 and 6!These videos aren't meant to entertain adults! If you want to see something meant for adults, you would think it would be pretty obvious to stray away from titles such as this.

OK, this movie works for babysitting because there are some songs that little kids know and can dance to. There isn't a real plot, it is just for entertaining young children. As for Brian H. I think you can't judge a movie labeled(yes, labeled) for children ages 2-8 if you are decades older. It definitely resembles a lower-budget film, but it doesn't matter for little kids! They like it or hate it, but that is all they really think about it. The characters are bright and go through a range of emotions that children might relate to. Anyway, It was a positive movie, though I like the Disney movies when they are available.

This movie is one that my 2 year old loves!.

He dances around and sings the songs with the characters on the screen. It's nice to have videos that you don't have to worry about your children imitating bad actions or language.

The songs they sing are old favorites and it's a pleasure to hear my son sing songs I learned when I was little.

I wish there were more videos out today like the Wee Sing collections.

Yes, the actors and music is childish, but isn't that what we want our children watching? After all, it says on the box that it is aimed at 2-8 year olds.
