Actors Piolo Pascual and Derek Ramsay expressed interest in portraying Abbas but couldn't commit due to scheduling conflicts.

Jericho Rosales had to drop out from the project a week before the filming due to an injury he endured while shooting a drama show for ABS-CBN.

This marks the first time a Filipino film is mixed and certified in the state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos surround sound format.

Took 29 shooting days to complete.

Some scenes were shot in the southern most part of the Philippines in the island province of "Tawi-Tawi".

Originally planned to be shot with spherical lenses. The director of photography Topel Lee decided to use a 2:35:1 aspect ratio or anamorphic instead.

Considered to be the biggest and most expensive Filipino movie of 2016.

The cast and crew had to shoot some scenes during actual tropical typhoons. Which made it an incredible challenge.

During the opening scene, the fictional village called "Barangay Doh Tong" was created completely from scratch by production designer Erwin Sanchez.

This movie was made when the pro-Duterte fervor was high in the Philippines, and it shows. Unfortunately, the filmmaker decided to pander to the audience by uncritically inserting Duterte (in absentia, or in TV clips) and his henchman Police Chief De La Rosa as the movie's champions who will kill the kidnappers and otherwise clean up criminality in the Philippines. Ironically, many of the scenes are set in the Police Headquarters at Camp Crame, where the real-life Philippine police kidnapped and murdered Jee Ick Joo, a korean businessman, after collecting ransom from his wife. Under Duterte, the real Philippine police have killed 20,000 Filipinos in extrajudicial killings, and have botched every hostage crisis in the last 30 years, including the 1989 Davao hostage crisis, which resulted in multiple hostages killed accidentally by their rescuers, under the leadership of, you guessed it, Duterte. The director is somewhat older, and that may explain it. As the younger Filipinos are turning decidedly against Duterte, the older demographic are his last cheerleaders, fervently hoping for the return of the Marcos era. Please note that the Marcos era was a high point for Filipino filmmaking. This film is a new low point.

Iam posting this review in behalf of Ms. CRISTINA ROCO-CORONA, wife of the late Chief Justice Rene Corona

The movie, ACROSS THE CRESCENT MOON, is a true classic and must be enjoyed, internalized and shared with every patriotic Filipino worldwide!!! Likewise, the movie is inspiring and very informative.

The movie opened our eyes to the horrible menace of human trafficking, modern day slavery of women, prostitution, drug trade and other social ills - and how abject poverty is the root cause of these problems.

It also reveals the contrast between the frivolity and comforts of city life vs. the instability and simplicity of living in a conflict-laden place.

Please watch this movie "Across the Crescent Moon" and if you enjoyed it, please encourage others to watch it. The sooner the better. The 56 theaters showing it might stop showing it after only a few days.

This movie entertains. It excites. It enlightens. It enriches. It makes us proud of our modern day heroes.
