Iran Obscura (2017) Online
Iran Obscura is an independent non-narrative experimental film shot with the use of a self-made 'camera obscura'; essentially a large box (50*50*70cm) with a hole and a simple convex lens on the hole. The projected image inside the box is then recorded using a video camera. This is the first attempt of the director in his search of a new and unique visual language in film-making. It is an attempt to reach the raw magic of optics, a gem lost by our endless pursuit of visual 'perfection' which is initiated and fueled by huge manufacturing firms in the market of photography products (image making in general). The camera is still throughout the film, there is no movement and no dialogue, although there is sound: four pieces recorded over a couple of years in Iran and Berlin, Germany.
