I know this movie might be pretty crass at times and may come off as misogynistic but Jump Offs is pretty hilarious and it achieves what it has set out to do. Plus you learn more about being a player here than you do in Def Jam's How To Be A Player. Derrick Simmons not only directs Jump Offs but he also stars in it as Malik/Oops as well as narrates the whole movie.

Jump Offs details the lifestyles of 5 different players. It shows how the lives of these players are affected by the choices they make whether right or wrong when it comes to choosing women. Its shows different ways that these guys can handle their situations.

I'll tell you what I like about as well as what I don't like about it. Oops is pretty funny as as well as being a jerk at times. I can't believe for a second that these gorgeous sisters would even hook up with Oops much less give him the type of day with his messed up teeth. Oops looks like Martin Lawrence's character with the screwed up teeth from Blue Streak. The game show skit was pretty humorous too. Once they showed the baby with the jacked up teeth, I had to catch my breath because I was laughing so hard. The DL player part was hysterical too. "I really like you", "Yeah I really like you too". "No, I mean I really like you" Huh?". It was a silly scene but it managed to get a few chuckles out of me.

There are a few things I didn't like about this movie. The scene where Oops pays a friend of his to rob his car with his baby mother still in it doesn't sit too well with me. This scene was in bad taste and should have been left out. Also I have been to different areas up north like All 5 boroughs of New York, Trenton and Newark New Jersey and Boston and never came across girls that was as courteous as the girls in this movie. I know that not every girl from up north are snooty but to make it seem like every girl up north has common courtesy is being unrealistic. Especially when those girl are well-mannered towards Oops and that is pushing it. Any girl from New York would have shooed him away without a second thought. The self-loathing Kenny character was WAY over-the-top(think Uncle Ruckus from the animated show The Boondocks only younger and more reprehensible). Im not sure what purpose his character serves besides being despicable and wearing his self-hatred on his sleeve. It gets uncomfortable to watch him mouth off to pretty black women because they are not sick-minded as he is. Also how is that Bryant gets the hell beaten out of him and Kenny gets kidnapped after mistreating his girl when he finds out she's mulatto but Oops never gets what's coming to him? That doesn't sit too well with me either because out of all those guys that deserved what they got Oops never gets his comeuppance.

Despite this rough spots Jump Offs is not that bad. Its not great but its good and some effort was put into this movie. Plus I like the message about cherishing the woman that loves you before you lose her permanently. Plus any movie that doesn't have me checking my watch every second can't be that bad. Only recommended for those that aren't snooty to a fault and can look past its flaws to enjoy it for what it is.

Surprisingly well made and written. Derrick Simmons is a good Director & actress. He always takes the script serious. The movie only has like 2 jumpy scenes and your on the edge the whole time because you never can figure out whats going on which is great. Jump Offs completely exceeded my expectations. A fantastic comedy film that keeps its focus on games, players and the funny side of life. This movie is really a very good movie. This is definitely Derrick Simmons's most accomplished and satisfying film to date. The direction, cinematography and score are all impressive here and the film is visually gorgeous. Hope everyone will enjoy it.

Loved this movie. But it is not for kids which anyone that knows. Can't wait to own it and see the second movie. I laughed all the way. The story was great. I did like the relationships that evolved among the actors and actresses. Well worth the price of admission to see this on the big screen. With strong and spectacular action sequences, very funny jokes and Derrick Simmons, perfectly interpreting the character, "Jump Offs" is a great popcorn movie. Funny and As the movie is very enjoyable. I can't describe it as a bad movie. But it indeed lacks on some role. It's minor lacks. They can do better in future. By the way It's a good comedy movie for adults.

The film had a fabulous, essentially true story, to tell and it met the challenge. One of the best movies about real life. The writer have done an awesome job! A truly original experience for the mind and the soul. The cinematography was good but they need to be more attentive about the places. But I can't say it was not good. It was good but could be more attractive. I felt like it was a really good film. I think it carried the spirit of the previous movies well. I must say I think the ending was played on between the two main characters a little too much, but hardly detracts from the rest of this films charm. I will round my score up as I think it deserves it. Check this one out!!

Jump Offs a great movie by any measure. It's an entertainment on the surface, with startling stunts, huge sets, technical dance numbers, entertaining "bits", great music both as background and foreground, beautiful places and cinematography and characters that tie all these things together. Attempting to disassemble any part of this juggling act in the act of judging the Movie is to miss the whole point of the movie. It is designed to work as a "meta" meta. Whether or not you agree with the espoused mature outlook and body politic hidden within the clever script and whether or not you choose to pull outward and see how actually genius the entire presentation is as a whole, you can't help but be entertained by this product of Hollywood about Hollywood using the "language" of Hollywood. Like I said, pure genius and I left with a smile on my face. Well done director!

In arguably my favorite film, the central story of "Jump Offs " is really amazing! This movie released in 2007. But a week ago I found it and Brought the DVD. This is one of the most brutally honest films I have seen in a very long time. And definitely in all of 2016. This is a very independent film that I think deserves a much broader audience. Derrick Simmons and especially A.J. Ekoku shine in their roles, bringing the necessary dramatic heft to the story that was needed. I loved every single second of this film and it will definitely have me watching it multiple times. As I said before, this might be my favorite picture of 2016. Brilliantly written, extremely well-acted, and incredibly raw and true, this film is a work of brilliance in the art of film.
