The Last Man on Earth Alive in Tucson (2015–2018) Online

The year is 2020, and after a deadly virus has swept the planet, only one man is left on Earth: Phil Miller. He has travelled to every city in North America and has come to the realization that he is almost certainly the last man on Earth.
Episode cast overview:
Will Forte Will Forte - Phil Tandy Miller
Kristen Schaal Kristen Schaal - Carol Pilbasian
Alexandra Daddario Alexandra Daddario - Victoria
Patti Forte Patti Forte - Patti Miller

Will Forte wanted to have an even bigger beard than the one he grew to play Phil Miller in the pilot, in order to show that his character had surrendered to despair after the worldwide virus left him as (as far as he knew) the only person left on Earth. But after the beard he grew caused him personal discomfort ranging from an inability to put his head on a pillow and sleep to nearly being thrown off his bicycle due to the wind pulling on it, Forte had the beard cut to a scraggly but much smaller size for filming.

Will Forte's real mother, Patti Forte, plays his character's mother, Patti Miller (seen in flashbacks).

In the pilot episode, Phil sings the Ghost Busters (1984) theme song. The creators, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, were once rumored to direct the Ghostbusters movie reboot.

The series was intended to air on a cable network. Will Forte, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller were concerned that the strange and adult-oriented material would be a target of "watering down" and editing on network TV. They were surprised first when Fox expressed interest in the show, then not only ordered it to series but told them to do what they wanted as long as they avoided foul language.

Closing music is the introductory riff from Lily Allen's "Knock 'Em Out."

Will Forte grew a huge beard for the pilot, aiming to have the hair as long on the sides of his face as in the front. He wanted to convey that his Phil Miller character had given up on himself in the wake of the global apocalypse. Forte shaved off the beard after the pilot because it would have produced continuity issues for the show.

While redecorating his new home, Phil puts up a picture of himself with his parents and his brother. His parents are "played" by his real-life parents, Orville and Patti Forte. His brother is "played" by Jason Sudeikis, who would appear in that role in the final episode, The Last Man on Earth: Screw the Moon (2015).

After seeing some trailers for this new show and hearing a few good things I thought I'd give it a chance and watch the pilot. I realize that pilot episodes are usually not the best and it usually takes a few episodes for a show to gain some momentum. It was not hilarious, but had a few good laughs. I especially enjoyed Phil's antics while he tries to pass the time as he is the last man on earth. After almost going through with suicide, Phil discovers the last woman on earth which is not the perfect dream that he imagines. While it would have been nice for him to be with the imaginary dream girl Victoria, the character Carol (who is weird and slightly a psycho) is more realistic and should provide a show with more substance and comedic struggles. Overall not bad, but nothing promising either. It might have a future which we shall see soon enough.

I was very excited for The Last Man on Earth. Will Forte is a guy who's been around for a while now but he really hasn't had a breakthrough yet. He's been on Saturday Night Live for years. This show is also a great move by Fox. They are running a little low on the comedies right now. That 70's Show has been over for a long time now and the animated shows like Family Guy and the Simpsons are on their last legs(as much as I love them both).

The Last Man on Earth starts off with an hour long pilot episode (which actually is two episodes). I like this move because the plot line of being the last man on earth takes some time to set up and a half hour just isn't enough. This show has no studio audience, which I prefer. Obviously Forte's character Phil Miller is not the only person left on Earth but he is one of the few survivors of a virus that eliminated most of the people. However I didn't find the episode that funny, but I know that it is pretty hard to make this pilot funny if you are the only person on the show. Phil Miller is a man suffering from terrible depression from being so lonely. Halfway through the show we get to meet another character, Kristen Schaal as Carol. I was hoping to see January Jones in this pilot, I really enjoyed her in Mad Men but we don't get to see her yet. This show didn't show me anything special yet. There was nothing that was laugh out loud funny, but I will likely tune in to the next couple episodes just so I can see how the rest of the cast will be introduced and how the show develops.

The pilot is especially well produced - it could easilybe a movie if they inteded it to be.

After settling in, Phil drives to the nearest supermarket to get lots of food, and porn magazines. Throughout the day, he also begins to bowl with lamps and fish tanks, and crashes two cars together in flames. At the end of the night, Phil goes to a bar to celebrate his birthday. He then believes, he can survive on his own, while talking to God.

Five months later, Phil is living in a mansion full of trash and garbage. He begins to build a large Jenga tower in his house, and even make a margarita pool. He then visits the local bar, with many sports balls having drawn on faces, and speaking with the sports balls. Phil begins to head to a local shop with a mannequin. The mannequin falls apart and believes he has failed and has told God he has won. The next day, Phil plans to commit suicide as he is alone. His plan to kill himself is to crash his car into a target. He spray paints a rest in peace sign, along with the target, and plans to do- so.

Almost about to crash into the target, Phil notices a smoke signal fire and drives to the smoke. He rushes out of his car, and begins to take a woman's bra and rubbing it in his face. He passes out at the fact that there is a woman on Earth. He wakes up and begins to hallucinate a beautiful woman , and wakes up to reveal a woman giving Phil CPR. With her taking Phil's gun, she threatens to shoot him. Phil finally calms her down, and the woman reveals herself to be named Carol Pilbasian, and both finally introduce themselves to each other as the last man and the last woman on Earth.
