There were some good things in this series but the format ruined a lot of the action. The producers decided a format like bake-off with timed goals and revealed tasks with judges was the way to go.

However, was this the way the arts and crafts movement developed ideas, collaborated and worked to produce artefacts. In the first episode the chair was clunky, in other shows the objects were rushed or unfinished and the pottery was a nightmare.

In reality the arts and crafts movement produced delicate highly worked up design that gave the appearance of homemade when in reality for the masses it was as much mass produced as what came before.
