The film was originally intended to be shot in color. Halfway through the production, James Murphy lost the dark gray beanie cap he was wearing as part of his costume. When they came back to film, they had to buy a replacement, and the only one they could find was bright red. The filmmakers decided to make the film black and white and started to shoot so. After the film was completed, Murphy found the cap.
